Legendary 'King of Pop' Michael Jackson

Today is another sad day in music industry as the "King of POP" Michael Jackson was rushed unconscious and not breathing on the way to L.A Hospital. Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times that paramedics responded to a 911 call at 12:26 p.m. Jackson, 50, was not breathing when they arrived.

As of now there is no known cause of his death, however rumors were spreading around that Michael Jackson had cancer. His spokesman said, "he is in the best of health."

Michael Jackson was striving to make a big come back and build his brand starting in London. He had 50 sold-out concerts for this summer.

Michael Jackson was unquestionably the biggest pop star of the '80s, and certainly one of the most popular recording artists of all time. In his prime, Jackson was an unstoppable juggernaut, possessed of all the tools to dominate the charts seemingly at will: an instantly identifiable voice, eye-popping dance moves, stunning musical versatility, and loads of sheer star power. His 1982 blockbuster Thriller became the biggest-selling album of all time (probably his best-known accomplishment), and he was the first black artist to find stardom on MTV, breaking down innumerable boundaries both for his race and for music video as an art form.

HE WILL BE MISSED

Fashion Statements in 140 Characters or Less

Anyone can make a fashion statement.

The real challenge is doing it in 140 characters or less.

That's why we'd like to introduce you to Twitter Tees, the latest innovation from your friends at Chicago T-shirt purveyor Threadless.

You're already familiar with the brand's uniquely democratic approach to the graphic tee: you submit a design to its website, which allows discerning tastemakers to vote on what they like the most. The Threadless team then chooses from the top vote getters and transforms them into real, live T-shirts. And now—like everyone from Iranian revolutionaries to your kid sister—they're wading into the Twitter stream for inspiration.

Just log in to the Twitter Tee site with your existing Twitter account and begin dropping 140-character bons mots like you normally do. Now, however, you'll be able to give other users the chance to decide whether your acute observations on life, love or Ahmadinejad's vote count need a bigger stage—the stage only a 100 percent cotton T-shirt can provide.

If it makes the great leap to from ASCII to cotton, you'll receive $500. You can even recommend your friends' textual cleverness—and receive $140 if one's chosen for a T-shirt.

Good thing you know such a lively bunch of characters.

Getting Arrested for Buying Your Own Sings

Tuesday is News Day

Remember the good ol' days of simple payola, when labels paid for play on radio stations? Proving that music industry fraud is moving with the times too, nine U.K.-based DJs have been arrested for purchasing their own songs on iTunes with 1,500 U.S. and U.K. cloned credit cards.

According to Metro U.K., the nine very enterprising musicians supplied 19 songs, determined by police to be of "intederminate quality" (wow, everyone really is a critic) to American distributor Tunecore. Once the songs were uploaded on iTunes and Amazon, the group went to work, buying the albums with the stolen credit cards and sending the songs moving up the charts. As a result of their fraudulent sales, the nine made out with about $300,000 in royalties.

It seemed like a pretty ingenious plan until Apple started receiving "stop payment" orders from credit card companies around December. After the company notified New York police, they worked with London law enforcement to apprehend the unnamed criminal masterminds.

Before their arrest, the DJ collective, ages 19 to 41, were apparently picking up steam, allegedly even attracting buzz from noted producers. Now, they'll probably just have to settle for 15 minutes of Internet fame and a possible VH-1 'Behind the Music.'

Old Firehouse Turns Smokehouse in FiDi

Barbecue is slowly making its way westward.

And since there's no such thing as too many short ribs, we say it's about time.

But in California, even a national treasure like BBQ isn't immune to some tweaks, and while we love us some traditional 'cue, we think we're onto something.

Welcome to Wexler's, a new spot that brings together farm-fresh, fusion and barbecue into one of the most oddly enticing packages we've seen in some time—opening at the corner of Montgomery and Sacramento on Friday.

While you might note the irony that this smokehouse was once a firehouse, you won't get any hint of the former SFFD (no pole, sorry) in the cherry-red chandeliers and the dinosaur-bone-like wooden ceiling installation (think of it as rib inspiration).

Get started on the 15-deep all-American microbrew selection with cult favorites like Alaskan Brewing Smoked Porter and Anderson Valley Summer Solstice then ease your way onto the menu, which is more California than Carolina—instead of pulled pork sandwiches, chef Charlie Kleinman (you know him from Fish & Farm and the Fifth Floor) is serving up Pulled Lamb Sliders dressed in watermelon and chile vinegar. If you crave something heavier, go for a Plate of Pork or, for some bicoastal action, some Smoked Maine Lobster.

And though he's focusing more on dry rubs than smoked meats, you can still order Smoked Short Ribs, washed down with some good old-fashioned sweet tea (spiked, if you ask nicely).

Because that's what Southern hospitality is all about.

A Bar With a Supermodel Pedigree

The hotel bar scene is its own special art form.

And while plenty of hotel bars do well enough during "the season," it takes some real cojones to open a spot heading into the slow and stormy summer season.

But we've found one that's not afraid to put its set on the table: say hello to Whiskey Blue at the W Fort Lauderdale, an audacious new cocktail den from intrepid nightlife czar (and husband of Cindy Crawford) Rande Gerber.

This is Florida's first and only outpost of Gerber's famed franchise, located on the first floor of the hotel with a massive outdoor patio situated directly on A1A for maximum beach-watching pleasure. The place is sort of a perfect storm of classy nightlife fun, full of expertly mixed cocktails (like the absinthe and elderflower-spiked Absinthe Minded Refresher), comfy seating with world-class design (sexy wood-and-glass Noguchi tables inside, Frank Gehry-crafted pieces outdoors) and lots of pretty girls in small dresses.

After taking in the lay of the land (and maybe meeting a vivacious Floridian or three), you'll want to head up to the third floor "living room," where pool tables, a DJ and more cocktails on the outdoor patio await. You'll also want to stop by the fifth floor pool deck, which offers a firepit and private cabanas.

Video for track 'Expialidocious'. The track is composed of a sine wave bass, custom drum sequences, and sounds recorded from the Disney film 'Mary Poppins'. Download the MP3 here: http://rapidshare.com/files/237356184/Expialidocious.mp3
